On joining the gospel choir, everyone were welcoming, and quite friendly, despite my feeling like an elephant in the room. I had wanted to shake things up spiritually, push myself, and that's what it did. I can honestly say, God prefers honest

I once joined a gospel choir. Obviously, I was the only white dude. No matter, we all praised the same. It was an enjoyable experienced. It woke me spiritually, and is allowing me to contribute more to another congregation. I enjoy worship too, keeps one in check, rejuvinates for your week ahead.

That aside, (and totally unrelated) I miss my wife, I can't wait for this deployment to end!
